Dropoff/Pickup Information

  • Emmanuel Episcopal Church is located at 370 Market Avenue, Coos Bay, OR 97420.
  • Registration and lunch at Emmanuel will happen from 12:00 noon to 1:00 pm on Saturday, May 31.
  • The event will officially begin (and lunch will be over) at 1:00 pm.
  • Pickup from Emmanuel is at 12:00 noon on Sunday, June 1. Please be prompt!
  • If you are going to be late in arriving on Friday or Sunday, notify the event leaders at (312) 719-0925.

Need a Ride?

  • If you want transportation between Eugene and Coos Bay, pay attention to the following:
    • You MUST check the appropriate box(es) on your child’s registration form.
    • Staff will be driving carpools of youth from St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, 166 E. 13th Avenue, Eugene, to Emmanuel on Saturday morning and returning to St. Mary’s on Sunday afternoon.
    • Adults must drop off their youth at St. Mary’s by 10:00 AM on Saturday.
    • Adults must pick up their youth at St. Mary’s at 2:30 pm on Sunday.
    • We ask that those who are able make an optional contribution of $5 each way to help cover the cost of gas during this 116-mile trip.
  • If you want to carpool from Portland or need transportation help of a different kind, contact Catherine Healy (see below).

Safety & Security

  • We keep a first-aid kit and all participants’ medical information on hand at all times.
  • Several of our staff hold one or more of the following certifications: First Aid/CPR/WFR/EMT-B.
  • We follow Church Mutual’s recommendation of ensuring a 1:6 staff-to-youth ratio.
  • The safety of our youth and staff is our #1 priority. At all times, we will do our best to ensure the physical or emotional safety of everyone on our watch!

Weekend Events

  • The purpose of this retreat is to give youth time to recharge their spirits and grow closer to God.
  • We will have time for games and fellowship (including free time on the beach!), along with small-group discussions and meditation, reflection, and worship.

Adult Staff

  • Adults are welcome to volunteer at this retreat as chefs, support staff, or small-group leaders!
  • All adult staff will be reimbursed for mileage at the IRS volunteer rate of $0.14/mile.
