Martin Loring - Junior Warden

Liasion: Buildings and Grounds

Lizz and I have been married for over 42 years. We are cradle-Episcopalians who love liturgy, sacred music, and the traditions of our church. We are blessed with a grown son, daughter and six grandchildren. (Number seven is due in August.) We have attended St. Paul’s since moving to Salem in November 1978.

My educational background includes a B.S. in Political Science from the U of O and a Master of Management from Willamette University. Professionally, I have been a manager for virtually all but the last two years of a 38+ year career – of sections or a division in four state agencies, and as C.E.O of a nonprofit business development corporation and a for profit business owned with my wife. Since August of 2006, I have worked as a compliance specialist regulating safety and economic entry for motor carriers.

I am involved in a number of Parish activities including singing in Trinity Choir (about 15 years), serving on Vestry (3 years), and serving as Jr. Warden (since earlier this year). I was involved with Outreach Ministries and Christmas Share for several years, and participate in a Wednesday morning Men’s Bible study group. Lizz and I enjoy Dinner for 8, the Wednesday evening service, Jean’s soups and a Wednesday evening Adult Journey class.

In addition to the blessings of a great family and good health, I have an inquiring mind, analytical and problem solving skills, the ability to work well with others, and a sense of humor. For me, the perfect St. Paul’s Rector to call now would be someone filled with the Holy Spirit, with excellent worship leadership, teaching and pastoral care skills who is committed to helping St. Paul’s better know Christ and make Him known for a long time to come.
