    Position Description: Assistant to the Children, Youth and Family Minister



    Position Classification: Part-time



    Compensation: This position pays the following hourly compensation - $17/hr up to 19hrs/wk - and will be paid monthly on or before the last day of the month, to be reviewed and adjusted annually.

    Supervision: Works under the general supervision of the CYF Minister Other Key Relationships: Clergy, Children and Youth Advisory Council, Church Staff, Vestry, Parishioners, Diocesan leadership, Salem Youth Collective leadership



    Work Schedule: Maximum of 19 hours per week. Schedule is flexible with hours required on Sundays as well as some evenings/weekends for specific events. Should plan to attend one of the weekly staff meetings each month.



    Duties: The Children, Youth and Family Ministry Assistant will provide support to the Children, Youth and Families Minister, assist with the development and implementation of all programs and faith formation aspects related to the Children, Youth and Family Ministries at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, and serve as childcare supervisor overseeing the coordination of paid and volunteer childcare providers in the nursery setting. In keeping with the mission of St. Paul’s this position seeks “To know Christ and make Christ known.”



    Qualifications and Skills:

    • High school diploma or equivalent education required
    • Interest in and enthusiasm for children and youth ministry
    • Experience working-or volunteering-with children and youth
    • Experience coordinating schedules for volunteers and paid staff 
    • Knowledge of the Christian faith tradition and sacred scriptures and the ability to communicate them effectively to children, youth and families
    • Familiarity with the Episcopal church and St. Paul’s community preferred
    • Excellent organizational skills
    • Excellent teamwork and people skills
    • Superior written and oral communication skills
    • Knowledge of appropriate software including Microsoft Word and Excel
    • Experience with communications platforms (e.g. Constant Contact, Remind, Realm)
    • Applicant must pass a background check
    • Must complete Safe Church, Safe Communities, First Aid/CPR training within 6 months
